A Prep Student Ready To Sing

It was before the 6PM Sunday Mass @ Our Lady Of Mercy RC Church, in Forest Hills, Queens, when I got into a conversation with a girl, a 2010 Graduate of Our Lady of Mercy School.

She thought it was the Sunday Evening Teen Mass. Alas, it was not. The girl was there to meet with the Music Director, because as she put it, she would be the Cantor for the Teen Mass.

I believe that the Teen Mass is next Sunday Evening at 6PM. She is a 1st Year Student @ St. Francis Prep in Fresh Meadows, Queens & lives in Forest Hills.

We had a conversation about the National Honor Society-Franciscan Chapter. She mentioned that she was just interested in doing well & not really interested in being part of that group. She appeared to be interested in singing that Teen Mass, on her own volition, with no one to push her to do it. I like that.There was Humility.

This is UNLIKE an episode of 13 Years Ago, where some family of influence in East Glendale, Queens, thought they ran the show & WERE The Show. Their daughter was seeking being elected to the Franciscan Chapter of The National Honor Society BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. This was a Family, known for their VANITY & then some, often using deceit as a tactic. They feared that their deceitful tactics might be revealed by a certain Girl Scout Council Official, who doubled as their Daughter's troop leader. As I was Grand Knight of Msgr Sherman Council Knights Of Columbus #5103, in East Glendale, the Council had(& still has)a working relationship with Parishes in Forest Hills, & this made for a potentially serious conflict. The Troop Leader & I, worshipped at Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs, Forest Hills. It was there that the 1st Ever K of C Altar Server Awards Ceremony took place. Two people being honored were at the Centre of Controversy, causing this East Glendale Family to launch a vicious stunt, to make sure their daughter won her high honor.
To this vain family, because both an Altar Server, who was the Memorial Mass Guest Soloist & The Troop Leader were honored at the Altar Server Awards in OLQM, it was time to hit the K of C & make plans to move to Arizona(Which They Did in July, 2000), in order to let people know who runs the show in East Glendale, Queens. They left East Glendale, like the Cowards they truly are, because of their secret becoming unraveled.

This family had hoped that their vile stunt, laced with a story full of criminality, sexual innuendo & viciousness, would never be found out. Their mysterious excursion to OLQM had an effect on Council Operations for the past 13 Years, all for a medallion in 1999. It should be noted that at the Sunday, 04/02/2000 Appalachia Fund Communion Breakfast, their Vile Secret had been revealed to me by a Priest & the Daughter & Mother were in shock, to say the least. When the Daughter sang her last hymn, she received derisive smiles from two Past Grand Knights, both of whom smiled like Cheshire Cats.

The Would Be Cantor understood all these things. I wish her Peace, many blessings & Good Lick in her Cantor Quest.
