dem guys in the brooklyn diocese are hiding a great thing called the latin mass. change the website information and phone message, will ya?

I have always wondered as to WHY The Roman Catholic Diocese Of Brooklyn, NY, my home Diocese for all of my years, is soooooooooooo disorganized, as if they are the KC Royals or '62 NY Mets?

WHY are you HIDING Information about the Traditional Latin Mass in Brooklyn?

I arrived at Our Lady Of Peace Church at 522 Carroll Street, just off 4th Avenue in Park Slope. It is a sweet church with Tabernacle @ the Centre of the Church on the Old Altar;

@ 12:30PM was supposed to be the start time. The phone messages read 12:30PM;

Surprise! Mass was changed to 10AM-no announcement-no nothing on the web-plans changed;

Went to Professor Thom's, my Red Sox Hideaway & waited for 5:15PM Mass at St. Agnes-East 43rd Street, the place where I went to Latin Mass, some weeks before;

I went to 5:15PM Mass-Novus Ordo & it was Beautifully-Celebrated As The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass should be. There was Plain Chant, Gregorian Chant & Kneeling at The Communion Rail, which is an option which I exercized. I loved it, intensely. On a Scale of 1 to 5, this is the 1st 5 I've ever given to a celebration in English of the Mass;

I had a nice Catholic Discussion with Amanda of Fall River, MA @ Professor Thom's on Catechetics & told of my experiences as Grand Knight, when asking 8th Grade Graduates about the Corporeal Real Presence in The Eucharist(Fall River is the birthplace of RemDawg). She, like I, was astonished at the lack of Catholic Knowledge by Catholic School Graduates. Sad(Sounds Like Diocese of Brooklyn To Me)!;

Dear Brooklyn Diocese-do the right thing & really-promote the Latin Mass & don't hide it under a basket. Yesterday was no fun, but I learned that Novus Ordo can be done reverently;

Otherwise, Brooklyn, you could end up on my "Riviera Cafe'" List. & YOU DON'T WANT TO BE ON THAT LIST;

Michael

Michael:

Where is this church in relation to 15th street? My brother-in-law is moving to the area in a month or so and I may want a place to worship when visiting.

OK, The Church is on Carroll Street, between 3rd & 4th Avenues, about a mile north of 15th Street.

Micheal, count your blessings that you have access to both the Tridentine Rite and a reverently said Novus Ordo. I have to make a 500 KM round trip to get to a TLM. And the NO here leaves me feeling empty, even though it is not really full of liturgical abuses. It just seems like an empty shell of a Mass that could be so much greater.

Paramedic?

It was so nicely done, The Mass, with Plainsong & Plainchant & Altar Rail Option, showed me that The Novus Ordo Mass can be offered with great reverence:

The "Wreckovationists" ruined the Churches, making everything so Protestant-Looking, with the moving of Tabernacles & removals of Altar Rails;

While I prefer the TLM, a Well-Offered Novus Ordo Mass is a Celebration of Beauty.

7 for that dual opportunity, I'm grateful.

The trouble with Novus Ordo is that it has a Number of Liberationists who can turn the Mass into a Circus, but the way it was done Sunday, says that there's hope for The N O.

The trouble with the NO, Michael, is that it is not the Mass that Pope Paul VI promulgated. It has become the Mass that the people have innovated, stripped of all its beauty and reverence. No more Gregorian Chant, even though it was in the documents of V2 as a requirement. And Mass facing the people was another innovation. The list goes on.

If the NO was celebrated the way it was intended, we wouldn't have such a division right now between the traditional Catholics and the more liberal ones. All that makes the NO a Mass is the sacrifice at the altar, and even that has been downplayed into a mere meal.

Count your blessings, that you have access to the sacred beauty and reverence of the TLM. Give thanks that you can attend a reverently said NO. pray for those of us who have neither.

I know, Para, that you're correct, as only certain prayers were to be in vernacular & that the Priest was to Face God & The Altar, & not turn the Altar to face the Congregation:

The ICEL Translations from Latin, include variations, the work of Liturgical Wreckovationists. Pro Multis is "For Many", not "For All";

A classical Instrument, like the Violin, would be suitable for Mass, whereas a Guitar is only suitable for a music festival. The Hymns sung at many a NO Mass, sound noninspirational. I just had the rare Mass where the Traditional Catholic Hymns were sung in English;

Today, many a young person, finds Gregorian Chant to be the coolest music which one can listen to;

Much of the Wreckovationist Liturgy, came from The Netherlands & took hold in The USA & Canada.

You know what's funny, but this is, primarily a Baseball Site:

But, what's right is right & like Baseball having its' Traditional Venues, the Church Catholic & Apostolic must hold on to Her Traditions as the Bride Of Christ;

The Wreckovationists of Baseball, gave us Artificial Turf;

Thank God that Grass is making a comeback as well as Old-Style Type Parks;

The Church has to really return to her roots;

Michael, whether it's the Church, baseball, football (soccer), architecture sacred or secular...we all know what the score is...

Don't worry, there are severe rumblings in the Vatican...something is seriously cooking...*today*...it may be that very soon, your Bishop will find his tactics no longer tolerated.

Generally, tell your friend Amanda, and anyone else, to go to Cath Con

http://cathcon.blogspot.com/

It's run by another Englishman, Chris Gillibrand, out of Brussels, Belgium.

If you need to direct anyone to proof, this will help. His archives are replete with evidence. When you have a couple of hours just sit back and go through his blog to get up to speed, you'll be stunned, I guarantee it.

Grand Idea, Simon-Peter:

I hope she brushes up on her Gregorian Chant.

Simon Peter:

Having just read Cathcon, I fear that there's No "Catholic" In The Church in Germany;

The Current Novus Ordo Mass, which means that Bugnini had an AWFUL sense of Humour, does inspire people, in much the same way that Joseph Francis Buck & James Timothy Mc Carver on FOX Saturday Baseball, inspire their viewers;

The BANALITY of The Commentary on "FOX Saturday Baseball", has inspired Baseball Aficionados to set up blogs & other websites, calling for this Talkative Duo to SHUT UP or to call for annihilation of one or the other & in some cases, both of them, combined;

The Mass is an Unbloody Sacrifice, NOT a meal & sing-along with Banal Hymns, with no Authentic CATHOLIC Sense, which has also inspired Catholics to stay home, or write blogs, detesting the Utter LACK of Sacredness & Beauty of the Run Of The Mill Novus Ordo Mass;

The Reform Of The Reform is so-desired;

Pray for The Motu Proprio.
