Mets Fan Families At Mass
I was at the 5:15PM Mass at St Agnes on East 43rd Street, Between Lexington and 3rd Avenues, just a short distance from Grand Central Station, from whence the IRT Lexington Avenue and Flushing Lines, run to. The Theme of the Epistle, Gospel and Homily was The Eucharist:
There is a tremendous difference between Mets Fans and Yankees Fans in this area. I find that Mets Fans tend to be more family-oriented. They appear together at Mass and wear their gear at Mass. They also tend to receive Holy Communion together at Mass. They also tend more towards a Serious-Minded Mass, and not the Folk Version;
& this is the Traditional Mets Fan Base being disregarded by Mets Ownership. I see these fans at Mass, more than any other Fan Base. Not only that, they can laugh somewhat about their team.
& They are People Of Faith, who don't consider their team as a Religion.
