It's interesting that no reasonable person will buy the idea that Hitler's underlings carried out the Final Solution without his knowledge, let alone consent; but plenty of people are nevertheless prepared to believe that Pope Pius had nothing whatsoever to do with priests smuggling Jews out of Europe, or monasteries breaking cloister to hide Jews, or even the sheltering of 3,000 Jews within the Pope's summer residence at Castel Gandolfo.
