The 2nd Webcast Is The Council Round
The Original Plan was to carry the Council Round of the Knights Of Columbus Int'l Free Throw Basketball Championship over blip.tv, with Vimeo.com using the blip.tv feed. Test Runs were to be made over Dailymotion.com, & Viddler.com. VodPod.com was to be the repeater for blip.tv. Viddler.com, recommended by onetime NY DJ, Champaine Palumbo, was to be used in the test run.
But, the Grand Knight intervened, stating that only YouTube.com, could deliver #s, so YouTube was added, over my objections. I guess it was to please parents, who have no real understanding of Video Production, just so these parents can brag about "YouTube #s", in regards to the accomplishments of their children. Trust me, YouTube is home to people who like to click one Video 100 Times to create an impression that people actually viewed their darlings.
Vimeo.com, an intelligently designed service, became 1 of the outlets of the Council Competition. It did well for an artistic website, which could be viewed via iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad. blip.tv could deliver iTunes Download Delivery, provided that one actually does the work of converting each video via blip.tv website, so it can be viewed on mobile devices. Viddler.com, sadly, is all Flash & cannot be viewed on iPhone, unless the SkyFire Browser is purchased, and only then can the video be viewed. Dailymotion.com has ability to shoot videos & upload them.
YouTube.com is installed on the iPhone & Android & Blackberry Devices as well as Windows Phone 7 Devices+Zune.
The YouTube #s were deceptively large #s, as will be discussed. blip.tv did quite well, especially for a network which never carried this kind of Coverage. Only Viddler.com, which is dropped from further consideration, did poorly, but had the easiest upload of any of the Video Services. Dailymotion.com showed promise as a Free Throw Network & was used in all 4 Important Rounds. The 1st Time Networks did well in comparison to the veteran YouTube, home to every imaginable K of C Free Throw all over North America.
