Steve Phillips IS Removed From "The M. Donald Grant List"
When a GM has his hands tied by "Those Back-stabbing Little Weasels"(Thanks, Imus), Fred & Jeff Wilpon, I can see now why Phillips made some of his comments in March, '07:
You wanted better & stronger. Fred Wanted 3 Stiffs for 1 star;
You are responsible for David Wright & Jose Reyes;
& The Trade For Mike Piazza;
& 2 Consecutive Post-Season Appearances;

If he could now just make one intelligent or insightful comment on "Baseball Tonight" he might get removed from the "Tim McCarver List"

I live here in Queens & Shea Stadium is not too far from me;
The Wilpon Group in the Mets Ownership was conspiring to buy out Mr Doubleday, a real sportsman, looking to please the fans, which is why there is an '86 World Champion Mets;
The Wilpons Prevailed, almost turning Shea Stadium into a dustbin, pissing off all the fans;
The Signing of Class B & C Free Agents after the 2000 WS was a sign that something was horribly-wrong;
They virtually strung Phillips & Bobby Valentine along, making them do with very-little in the way of resources;
Phillips let his eyes do "The Talking" when it came to why the Mets have gone through their current Slump, as he experienced connivers like The Wilpons, First-Hand;
He sees that One Time Protoge', Omar Minaya, is being subjected to "The Expos" Tactics of Fred & Jeff Wilpon, not letting "Omar Be Omar";
"Being Like Tim" is the current TV Trend;
Yet, that wasn't the Tim of years ago. Instead of Information, it's all for the yucks, for the sake of sponsors, who think their potential audience, are all idiots;

I think that's probably the real problem-national sports commentators talk as if nobody watching the gane has any idea how it's supposed to be played. However, I must say I've watched McCarver for years and I personally don't see a whole lot of difference in his onscreen persona between now and then. He's always annoyed the crap out of me. As has Joe Morgan.
